Cleaning & Packaging

Cleaning optical surfaces and protecting components for delivery.

Surface Care & Protection

Surface cleanliness and protective packaging help preserve the condition of finished optical components. Residual particles, handling marks, and movement during shipment can affect how parts arrive and are prepared for use.

Strahl Optics coordinates cleaning and packaging requirements according to the substrate, coating, component geometry, and delivery conditions. Cleaning methods, individual protection, and identification requirements are agreed for each project.

Cleaning & Drying

Ultrasonic cleaning uses cavitation in a liquid bath to help dislodge particles and processing residues from optical surfaces. Cleaning agents and process conditions are selected for compatibility with the substrate, coating, and component construction.

After rinsing, parts are dried using a suitable method to remove residual moisture and minimize drying marks. Components unsuitable for ultrasonic treatment follow an alternative cleaning process.

Surface Check & Handling

After cleaning and drying, surfaces are examined under suitable lighting for visible particles, streaks, and handling marks. Parts requiring further cleaning are returned for treatment before packing. Suitable gloves and handling tools reduce direct contact with optical surfaces and help prevent contamination from being reintroduced.

Protective Packaging

Individual containers or separated compartments keep components from contacting one another. Supports are selected to limit movement while avoiding unnecessary pressure on optical surfaces. The individual packages are then secured within a cushioned outer carton for shipment.

From Cleaning to Shipment

01

Residue Removal

Clean components using a method suited to the material and coating, followed by rinsing and drying where required.

02

Cleanliness Verification

Confirm that cleaned parts meet the agreed visual acceptance criteria before packing. Set aside any parts requiring further treatment.

03

Packing & Cushioning

Keep parts separated and securely supported to reduce movement, surface contact, and impact during transport.

04

Shipment Preparation

Verify part identification, quantities, shipping details, and required documentation before release.
